How we check prices

Every dollar figure on Flowercost links to the page we read it from, with the date we read it. If we can’t find a source, we say so.

Where numbers come from

  • Retailer product pages for specific products (for example, FTD’s dozen roses). We read the listed price without signing in or applying coupons.
  • Retailer policy pages for delivery rules, cutoffs, and fees.
  • Published surveys and reports for averages: The Knot Real Weddings Study, the National Retail Federation’s holiday surveys, FinanceBuzz’s state-by-state rose survey, and the SendFlowers.io delivery fee report.
  • Government data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for price trends over time.

Right now the site cites 25 sources.

How we label things

  • A bracketed link, like [FTD], goes to the source for the number next to it.
  • An asterisk (*) on a fee means the retailer didn’t publish its fee on a page we could read, so we used that retailer’s median from the SendFlowers.io report.
  • A yellow “estimate” box means we built a range from a small number of sources, not from a survey. We explain how.

What we leave out

Sales tax, promo codes, and membership discounts, because they depend on who you are and where you live. Same-day and holiday surcharges are noted where retailers publish them.

Prices change

Flower prices move with holidays and seasons, and retailers change their catalogs often. Always confirm the delivered total at checkout. If you spot a number that’s out of date, we want to know.

Commissions don’t change our numbers

Flowercost may earn commissions from some retailer links in the future. That never affects which prices we show or how we rank them. See our affiliate disclosure.
